Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapeutic technique that doesn’t require or focus on language, but instead focuses on the parts of your brain that have stored distressing, overwhelming, or traumatic experiences. Therapists must gain additional training to utilize EMDR safely and it is a super effective approach for decreasing distressing symptoms relatively quickly. 

Brainspotting is also a therapeutic technique that focuses on processing trauma non-verbally. It uses the individual’s visual field to access and process stored trauma.
